In June 2020, WCJI signed onto a letter written by CAIR Oregon and addressed to the Washington County Board of Commissioners. CAIR, WCJI, and the other community groups who signed the letter opposed further funding to the sheriff's office until
an outside investigator is hired to look into the misconduct surrounding Deputy Rian Alden's attack on Albert Molina and
a civil rights committee composed of communities of color is created.
